Sydney University has awarded Pacific Vetcare educational partner status for its impeccable internships. Although students only attend the practice for a month they become vital members of the team and are expected to handle cases and reports as any other member of the team would.
While in residence students are expected to perform presentations to allow assessment of their communication skills in order to boost skills with clients.
The merits of internships to budding veterinarians can’t be overstated. Have you applied for an internship? Have you had a good experience while studying at a practice? Let us know.

Myths and incorrect information pass through all aspects of our lives, and unfortunately when it comes to pet care owners often adhere to beliefs that simply aren’t true and impact on the lives of their pets. Internalising issues, thinking their pets hold grudges against them or believing punishment is a requirement in training all lead to further problems for both owners, pets and ultimately vets who have to correct what happens.
This useful handout from DVM is distributable and should go some way in dispelling these myths before they become full out problems.

Open access wikis have revolutionised the way people access information online. There are a variety of specialised wikis out there and veterinary education is no exception!
Full UK undergraduate information is available free of charge with no advertising whatsoever on WikiVet. WikiVet is no substitute for research from journals and papers, but, even if you’re not a UK student, there’s a lot of useful information on a range of treatments on the site. The service is available to vets, vet students and vet nurses/techs worldwide. It’s definitely worth a look.
